Nancy Wake
A main figure in the French Resistance during WW2. She served as a British Special Operations Executive agent during the end of WW2. She was one of the leaders of the maquis groups. Jessie Traill An artist of etching. Her work was well known for her designs being very architecturally detailed. She worked in Engalnd and France and during the war she served in hospitals with the Voluntary Aid Detachment. Vivian Bullwinkle Usually known as Captain Vivian Bullwinkle. A survivor of the Banka Island massacre in 1942. She volunteered as a nurse with the RAAF but was then rejected because of her flat feet. But from there she joined the Australian Army Nursing Services. She survived the attack from Japanese in Singapore. z Sybil Craig, Nora Heysen and Stella Bowen Were many of the Official War Artists that were chosen by the Australian Government. There work is still shown at the Australian WAR Memorial in Canberra. Vera Torney and Margaret Anderson Nurse that were stationed in Singapore but the Japanese came to invade Singapore the nurses were evacuated to go on a ship and it was bombed. These two nurses were shielding patients with their bodies when the ship came under attack so their won bravery awards. Winston Churchill Prime minister of Great Britain from 1940 to 1955. He lead the Britain to fight against the Nazi’s in WW2. He was known for his speeches which boosted national morale. |
