1922
- CWA (Country Women’s Association) was founded so women could fundraise for causes and support communities.
1942
- As the men went off to war the women were then proceeding into the workforce but working in men’s jobs.
- The Australian Women’s Land Army were founded. They would recruit the women onto the farm as there were no men working there.
- AWAS (Australian Women’s Army Service) recruited women to do the not so much important duties in the military. These duties included looking after the radios and anti- aircraft machinery, drivers and many other roles.
- Australian nurses went and served overseas. Thousands went overseas and many were taken as prisoners of war and 71 were killed while serving.
- Women who entered the workforce as doing men jobs got paid a far lower rate than males and it was the exact same job. The jobs did not exist at the end of the war.
1945
- The war ended in Europe in May 1945.
- Over all the years of this war, there were many women that contributed to the war such as being in the military or in civilian war work. 460, 000 women were in military and 6.5 million were in civilian war work.
